In 2013, ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 remains an official partner of the campaign I have a Friend – a Good Samaritan, organized traditionally by the Samaritans Association. The initiative which aims at finding and distinguishing people and communities on the territory of the Stara Zagora region who have helped someone in need is held every year. Fifteen nominations for the 2013 Good Samaritan annual competition were collected in this year’s edition. Everyone is invited to give a vote for the story he likes most at www.samaritans.bg/dnes until December 6. The winner will get his award at a special ceremony in Stara Zagora on December 13.

ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 remains the only representative of the business sector, invited by the organizers to take part in this project due to its large-scale and varied social responsibility program. Similar to 2012, the partnership between the company and the Samaritans Association does not include sponsorship of the project, but both internal and external communication. The company distributes information about the initiative and motivates its employees, partners and friends to tell about the good deeds of people who helped someone in need. In 2013 again a representative of the company will take part in the awarding ceremony in the end of the year.
The Good Samaritan award nominations were collected at the website of the Samaritans Association. 70-year-old YovkaStoyanova was nominated by the Rotaract Club in Stara Zagora for being a long-time gratuitous blood donor. Victor Stoychev, Martin Yovchev and YavorStoychev, students in the Foreign Language School in Stara Zagora, were recommended by a teacher of theirs for having resolutely returned a big amount of money to its owner. StefkaKondova was nominated for her wholehearted care for her son who suffers from cerebral paralysis and for her role for the establishment of the Daily Centre for Disabled Children and Youth in Galabovo. Among the nominees there are also a group of Dutch volunteers who renovated with their own resources the building of a house for children deprived of parental care in Stara Zagora, young people from Stara Zagora who helped a person to collect money for an urgent kidney transplantation, and a doctor who helped a 7-year-old girl to avoid becoming blind.
The collection of the 2013 nominations started on March 5 at a meeting with the regional media. During the event the association presented a newly created Good Samaritan stamp which is available for sale at the office of the association. Everyone can buy it for BGN 30, with the money being donated in support of the initiative.
All official partners of the 2012 campaign keep supporting it in 2013: Stara Zagora Municipality, Kazanlak Municipality, the Regional Library ZahariyKnyazheski, the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross, the State Opera in Stara Zagora, the Public Donation Fund Stara Zagora, the Regional History Museum, and Darik Radio Stara Zagora.
The initiative is now held for the third year in a row. Among the Good Samaritans awarded in previous yearswere Stefan Stoychev, known as the man who helped the people in the burning bus on Thrakiya highway, Manuela Maleeva and Dr. Bruno Franier, and the hero from Sutton, PlamenPetkov.
