The 25th anniversary of the bank in 2016 is also marked by another milestone in its history – after the successful acquisition of the operations of Alpha Bаnk Bulgaria, Postbank is already the fourth biggest bank in Bulgaria with over BGN 6.6 billion assets. The financial institution is a trusted partner of thousands of households, entrepreneurs, small businesses and big corporations, as well as institutions and NGOs. It is one of the big employers in the country and part of the strong European banking Eurobank Group.

“This anniversary is a symbol of our continuous development and achievements, result of our hard work and desire to grow and set the new trends in the Bulgarian banking sector. I am proud and honored to lead the team of this fast growing institution. Now we are heading to “Destination: Future” – a successful path that we create together with and for our clients. Our success is a testament to the quality of service and commitment we provide to them and the community”, said Mrs. Petia Dimitrova, CEO of Postbank, in her official address.

Since the opening of the first branch with only 20 employees in 1991, Postbank developed quickly in its 25 operations in Bulgaria. In these years, Postbank grew into one of the systemic banks for the economy of the country, with a broad branch network and a considerable client base in retail and wholesale banking segments.

“Going back in time, Eurobank’s decision to expand and invest in Bulgaria, as well as our decision to hold firmly to this investment, was a very wise one. After 25 years, we do consider Bulgaria a home market. We are here to stay. We shall keep financing the economy and providing top-class service to our clients”, said Mr. Fokion Karavias, CEO of Eurobank Group.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Postbank Mr. George Provopoulos underlined the importance of the highly skilled personnel of the bank in developing Postbank in the Bulgarian market.

“I would like to thank and congratulate all of you, for all your efforts that led to 25 years of success. It is my firm belief that the Bank will continue to be profitable, successful and play a key a role in the Bulgarian economy. Most of all, however I would like to thank our loyal customers, some of them are here tonight celebrating our anniversary with us, and commit that we will continue to support them and offer the same and even better level of service in the years to come”, said Mr. George Provopoulos.

“In personal life plan 25 years are relatively short time, but for the Bulgarian banking system, after the transition to market economy, this period is almost the whole life time. In this sense, Postbank as currently the fourth bank in Bulgaria in terms of assets is a very successful business that is able to help and unite around itself many other business initiatives”, said in his official address Mr. Vladislav Goranov, Minister of Finance.
“25 years reliable partnership and support for small and medium business deserve the high praise and trust that customers vote to Postbank. Your aim to present innovative and modern financial solutions to the Bulgarian business deserves recognition”, said Mr. Bojidar Lukarski, Minister of Economy, in his official address.

During the event, Mrs. Dimitrova announced the opening of the first Postbank Private Banking Center as a special recognition of the personal approach the bank offers. Moreover, the bank ventured out of the conservative banking and it has set a new customer focused model in both specialized centers and via modern online servicing channels. Beyond its core business activities, for its 25-year history Postbank has responded to the needs of the local community and supported numerous CSR programs and initiatives in the fields of education, society, culture, sports and environmental protection, in cooperation with established institutions and organizations.
