For the second consecutive year, Postbank offers interest rate lower than the regulated by law
For the upcoming months for active enrollment in colleges and universities in the country and as a result of increased interest to the student loans with state financial support, Postbank offers student loan with promotional fixed interest rate of 6.5% for the entire period. Consumers do not owe fees or commissions and credit is not bound by an additional condition for use of other products of the bank. The student loan from Postbank is granted under the state program for lending undergraduate and graduate students, according to the agreement with the Minister of Education and Science signed in July 2013. Since the launch in 2010, Postbank was the first bank from the program that offers lower interest rates than the stipulated in the Law for lending to undergraduate and graduate students.
Since the beginning of 2016, the average amount of student loans agreed with Postbank increased nearly four times, compared to 2015, as this increase is a trend for the program in general.. This trend is explained by the gradual increase in tuition fees and in the minimum wage (the credit for dependents is based on it) and the increased interest to the program among foreign students. The greatest wish to be financed by Postbank show the students from the New Bulgarian University, followed by students from the Medical University of Sofia, as in 2016 there is a larger number of loan applications from the medical universities in Plovdiv and Pleven.
Most commonly, the students in the field of Medicine – 18%, Economics – 10% and Law – 5%, which corresponds to the trends from the previous year. Mainly the loans are for payment of the semester fees, as the loans granted by Postbank funds for child support are 5%. The majority of students with granted loans by Postbank are obtaining Bachelor degree – 68%.
