The Hubert H. Humphrey Program was initiated in 1978 to honor the memory and accomplishments of the late Senator and Vice President, Hubert H. Humphrey. Since 1978 more than 3000 Fellows from over 140 countries have participated in the program.

The Program is for experienced mid-career professionals interested in strengthening their leadership skills. As a non-degree program, the Fellowship offers valuable opportunities for professional development through selected university courses, attending conferences, networking, and practical work experiences. During the year, Fellows pursue both their individual program goals and work closely with their Humphrey colleagues in workshops and seminars. Fellows come from all over the world and specialize in a wide range of fields, including law, finance, sustainable development, democratic institution building, education and public health.
