10 August 2016 – Shell Bulgaria has launched the Future Cities Contest, which is a challenge to Bulgarian students, from local and foreign universities, to share their ideas on how to deal with the ever growing need for energy in urban areas around the world. The initiative is targeted towards creative minds of non-conventional proposals, who believe that their ideas have the potential to be developed in future and change the way in which energy resources will be used in the decades to come. Those willing to take part in the contest are invited to send their proposals on the topic before 11 September 2016 to the following e-mail address: [email protected]. The pitch should include a detailed description of the idea, benefits and solutions of existing and future energy problems, as well as feasible implementation opportunities. The candidates must minimum 18 year old university students in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme (at least sophomores).

The shortlisted finalists will be invited to Sofia on 14-16 September 2016 to present their projects before a jury consisting of representatives of Shell Bulgaria, the academic community, the City of Sofia and independent energy experts. The best concepts will receive cash awards of 1500, 1000 and 750 BGN for first, second and third prize respectively.
