Carsten Rabe has joined Hilton Sofia in the role of Executive Chef.
With more than 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Carsten is now responsible for managing the kitchen team at Hilton Sofia and overseeing the culinary experience at Seasons Restaurant, Artists Bar and in-room dining.
Born in Buxtehude, close to Hamburg, Carsten found a passion for cooking through his mother who introduced him to the importance of fresh ingredients. He then went on to follow his dream of becoming a chef by joining the Renaissance Hotel Hamburg as an apprentice.
Carsten worked in various hotels and restaurants in Hamburg until 2000, when his journey around the world started – from the USA to Ireland, then Switzerland, Croatia, Jordan, Bermuda and Egypt. During his extensive culinary career he worked for various hotel chains, including Kempinski Hotels, Le Meridien, Marriott, Four Seasons, The Ritz-Carlton.
“My menus highlight my passion for fresh local produce. I believe quality and freshness are the key elements to creating outstanding food,” said Carsten. “Food should taste as natural as possible, especially when using seasonal ingredients. I believe that when a guest visits a restaurant, it is not just about feeding their hunger. It’s about the complete dining experience, and at Hilton Sofia we strive to deliver a memorable experience on every visit.”
Carsten’s first few projects will focus on the enhanced breakfast buffet, the autumn menu of Seasons Restaurant and the upcoming launch of the new Sunday Brunch.
