Doing innovation the right way

Creating an innovation program that works

At the moment, there are many different innovation methodologies offered on the market and vendors try to describe the differences and similarities between them. The truth, however, is that focusing solely on methodology results into additional isolation of teams within companies, which is proven to work against any type of innovative endeavors.

DesignThinking.bg (www.designthinking.bg, a brand of Nextdoor Ltd.) has been on the market for almost 4 years, and thanks to our work with clients, we have learned a lot how innovation can become part of the work culture in a company. After numerous iterations, we can boldly state that we have created the perfect innovation program, bringing real, tangible results.

It’s an innovation program with a holistic approach. Together with using design thinking, we have created different modules to prepare employees, managers and HR specialists to build connections between departments, create processes and space for collaboration, and give practical tools for everyday innovation.

In the past two years we have had the opportunity to test our innovation program with companies from different industries and sizes. We are convinced that we have created a comprehensive service that works:

– In 2016 with Konica Minolta Bulgaria, a company of 50 employees, which has successfully transformed from a brand associated with office hardware to an IT company, providing a whole range software solutions for managing document flow and office processes.
– In 2017 with Telenor Bulgaria, a global telecom company with 2000 employees in Bulgaria, where we built a strong and independent team of innovators for less than 6 months.
– In 2016 and 2017, together with our partners from Launchlabs GmbH, we have worked with Accenture Global – a multinational consulting company with almost half a million employees in 130 countries and annual revenue of 30 bn. USD.

Our Innovation Program in action at Telenor Bulgaria

We started our cooperation with Telenor Bulgaria in 2016 after a thorough and challenging selection process. It was worth it – Telenor Bulgaria is without any doubt our most ambitious client so far and we are very happy that they have chosen us as their long-term partner.

The innovation program that we prepared for them was based on the methodologies of Design Thinking, Service Design, Agile and elements of business coaching. Three of the main modules in our innovation program were training practitioners, working on real projects and “train the trainer”.

Here is what participants in the program say about our cooperation:
“The program is suitable for companies which want to make their employees get out of their comfort zone, start thinking with the fresh mindset of a start-up, and find new ways to solve both existing and new problems.” Deniza Kulaxazova, Service Designer, Telenor Bulgaria.

“The program builds a good theoretical base, but the most valuable thing for me is the exclusive practical focus.” Anna Mitova, Service Designer, Telenor Bulgaria

“The program introduces you to the fundamentals of design thinking and design of new products and services. It has helped me gain better understanding of a more efficient and modern way of working that leads to real business benefits.” Ralitsa Ralcheva, Strategic Projects, Telenor Bulgaria.
