Eldrive and Shell Bulgaria signed a memorandum for the development of electric cars charging stations in Shell’s gas stations in Bulgaria.
Eldrive will install fast charging stations in 16 Shell stations, positioned on the main highways and roads in the country. The very fist fast charging stations have already been installed in Shell Veliko Tarnovo and Shell Lyubimets and have been in operation since November 1st. The rest of the stations are expected to open by the end of the first quarter of 2018.
This partnership will make Eldrive the largest manager of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country and the only operator with national coverage, while Shell Bulgaria will be the first chain of gas stations in the country to undertake such a major project to recharge electric cars with rapid charging stations . The installed charging stations have a power of 50 kWt DC, which makes it possible to recharge the batteries of the most popular electric vehicle brands up to 80% in less than 20 minutes.
The service was launched just after the announcement of Shell’s purchase agreement for NewMotion, one of Europe’s largest suppliers of electric cars charging services, which is why the UK will be the first country in which Shell Recharge, the new rapid charging device, will be available. These initiatives are proof that Shell is developing a full set of electric vehicle charging points and demonstrates its commitment to providing its customers with a set of fuels with the development of new technologies, which coexist with traditional transport fuels.
