AES Bulgaria received two prestigious awards recently.
The first is the EMEA Finance Annual Achievement Award in the Best Restructuring in Central and Eastern Europe category with a 117 million Euro amended debt profile, presented to the AES Saint Nikola Wind Farm. This is great news and recognition for both AES and its lenders in Kavarna led by EBRD and IFC.
EMEA Finance magazine announced the winning deals and dealmakers of 2017 in the 10th Anniversary edition of the annual Achievement Awards package. Nominated by parties including banks and their clients, and chosen by the EMEA Finance editorial team, these projects and transactions exemplify the innovative work taking place in the region’s capital markets.
The second notable award is the British Safety Award, presented by the British Safety Council, which AES Bulgaria won for the seventh consecutive year. The prize is awarded to companies with a significant commitment to health and safety management in the workplace since 1957. Among the criteria for evaluation of companies is the adopted approach to identify the most significant threats to the health and safety within the company, the effective participation of employees in the implementation of standards and compliance with the instructions of the health and safety of contractors and visitors.
In its daily operation and maintenance, AES Bulgaria has developed and applied a management system of safety at work, occupational health and environmental protection in all facilities – TPP “AES Galabovo”, the Waste Disposal Facility and the St. Nikola wind farm. The system is in accordance with the regulations for environmental management ISO 14001: 2004; for occupational health and safety OHSAS 18001: 2007; and management standard ISO 55 001 assets.
