Telenor presented its Open Mind program for people with disabilities

Telenor presented its Open Mind program for people with disabilities at the Equality Means Much More career forum, organized by Jamba. Representatives of the telecom including participants of the program met with both people with disabilities looking for job opportunities and with representatives of other companies. They presented the employee recruitment process, the work with the participants in the program and their development as individuals and professionals. Representatives of Telenor also presented the specifics of building adaptation and the working conditions within the company.

“We believe the future is in diversity – the more diverse a team is, the stronger it is. That is why we rely on the inclusion of the differences. It gives us a great set of talents and strengths. The Open Mind program is one of the sources of diversity which is also a prerequisite for a very high level of engagement of each member of the team,” said Valeria Doycheva, Program Manager of Open Mind for 2017.

At the career forum, Telenor also presented a new Internet of Things solution to help people with disabilities. The company develops the product in accordance with the Service Design Methodology and in cooperation with students from the Technical University of Sofia. As the methodology requires, the team developing the solution conducted a number of interviews with people with disabilities in order to be able to develop a prototype.

Open Mind is a program for social integration and professional development of people with disabilities which aims to provide them with the opportunity to work on different projects in Telenor and to increase their competitiveness on the labor market in Bulgaria. The recruitment process for candidates in the program takes place once every year, while placements vary between 2 and 5. The strong motivation and desire for professional development are among the main criteria for joining the program. Every selected participant has the opportunity to work on a Telenor project for a period of 2 years, during which they will pass a number of training in order to acquire useful job skills.
