The 1st Plovdiv Economic Forum entitled “The Complex Context of Growth” will take place at the Imperial Plovdiv Hotel in on Thursday – Friday, June 21—22, 2018.
More than 80 prominent personalities from Bulgaria and Europe will address this important Forum which will provide an opportunity to identify and assess key Economic Growth challenges, learn more from Policy Experts in other countries, support the adoption of Corporate Social Innovation practices in the Private Sector and identify a course of Policy Actions towards more competitive and inclusive economic policies in Bulgaria and South East Europe.
H.E. the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Boyko Borissov will open the Forum on the first day of the event, on Thursday, June 21, and senior members of the Bulgarian Government will address this first forum in Plovdiv including the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Tomislav Donchev, the Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Ms. Lilyana Pavlova, the Minister of Energy, Ms. Temenuzhka Petrova, the Minister of Economy, Mr. Emil Karanikolov, and other senior officials from the State and Private Sector of Bulgaria.
Important senior personalities will travel from abroad to address the Forum including the Minister of Energy from the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Antic, the Regional Director of the World Bank for the EU countries, Dr. Arup Banerji, the former U.K. Minister of State, Trade and Investment and member of the House of Lords, Lord Francis Maude, the former Minister of the Hellenic Republic and EU Commissioner, Ms. Anna Diamantopoulou, and other senior opinion leaders from European countries.
Among the topics to be discussed are EU: clash of visions, Geopolitics of the region, Euro area expansion, European energy union, Euro banking union, Western Balkans prospects, Bulgaria’s capital
formation and developments in FDI, corruption & state capture, regional developments and economic clusters in Bulgaria, improving the education output, demography, rule of law and security or property rights.
The Plovdiv Economic Forum is organized by the Delphi Economic Forum based in Athens, Greece and the Center for Liberal Strategies based in Sofia. It is a new initiative for Bulgaria and a high-level meeting of the most influential Bulgarian and international political, corporate and thought leaders from around the world to address pressing challenges currently facing Bulgaria, our Region and Europe.
The Forum’s ultimate goal is to contribute through dialogue and sharing of ideas and visions to Bulgaria’s successful transformation and to unlock the potential for Social and Economic Growth.
