Nearly 140 people welcomed the new key officers of the U.S. Embassy

A hundred and forty people attended the Networking Reception where the new key officers of the Embassy were introduced. The event was jointly organized by AmCham Bulgaria and the U.S. Embassy in Sofia. It was held at October 23rd, at Grand Hotel Sofia.

The AmCham President Dr. Krassimira Chemishanska warmly welcomed the audience. “This is our traditional gathering, although it is quite unusual to have almost all the Embassy key staff that run the agenda of the United States in Bulgaria outside of their premises,” she said. “This kind gesture makes both the event and the relationship of AmCham with the Embassy unique.”

Dr. Chemishanska talked about the goal of the event – to contribute for the extension of the links between the Chamber and the Embassy for the sake of the bigger American community in Bulgaria. Any AmCham event is designed to add value to the membership, and this was not an exception. Last night each member had the chance to personally meet and greet with the relevant U.S. Embassy officer. Thus, building new relations and friendships.

“For almost three years now I have witnessed the terrific partnership between AmCham and the U.S. Embassy.  I would like to acknowledge both the AmCham board and the Embassy team for their contributions.  For the past 25 years the Bulgarian economy has made significant progress, largely due to the development of the private sector.

That means that your hard work has contributed to your country’s success,” said Ambassador Eric S. Rubin.

He also pointed out that the U.S. investments in Bulgaria created tens of thousands of jobs, brought technologies and know-how, and made significant impact on the local communities.

Then he introduced the “new-comers” to the Embassy team and their responsibilities:
