Aleksandar Dimitrov, Chairman of the Managing Board and CE of A1 Bulgaria is the 2018 Manager of the Year. The winner’s name in the 11th edition of the top-managers contest was announced at a stylish ceremony in the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

The award was given by H.E. Rumen Radev, The President of the Republic of Bulgaria who announced the name of the winner.

“The future belongs to those that combine the management science with the art of the leadership”, said President Radev.

“People, study, because that you know right now is getting old and does not mean anything. Every day you have to learn something new,” were the first words of the new Manager of the Year.

The night belonged to A1. Apart from the crystal award, Aleksandar Dimitrov took another two awards. He won the online vote of the public and the Mission in Favour of the Society Award.

Each of the ten finalists was awarded with a special certificate for high achievements in management.

For a first time was given the new-founded special award on the name of Prof. Lachezar Tsotsorkov, the late CEO of Asarel Medet, Panagyurishte. It was given by his son Dimitar Tsotsorkov, CEO of Asarel Medet.

“My father believed that the human life meaning is to make the world a better place,” said Dimitar Tsotsorkov.

The award was given to the Dundee Precious Metals Bulgaria.

Who is the New Manager of the Year

Aleksandar Dimitrov participates for a first time at the Manager of the year. he is the Chairman of the Managing Board and CEO of A1 Bulgaria. He has more than 15 years in the telecom sector. He holds his current position since October 2015 when he joins the then Mobiltel (now A1). His career includes top-management positions in Vivacom (CCO since 2008). Prior to that he was the commercial director (2001 – 2006) and CEO (2006 – 2008) of Germanos Telecom Bulgaria. Mr. Dimitrov has a Master degree in electric machines and equipment from the Technical University in Sofia, and Management and marketing from UNWE.
