The American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria collected BGN 46,500 during the traditional Thanksgiving Charity Dinner.
The event was held on November 20th, 2018 at Sofia Tech Park, John Atanassov Hall. Traditionally around 200 people – AmCham members representatives, fellows and other official guests – attended the gala that was organized for 16th consecutive time.
This year too the funds will be donated to the bCause Foundation that runs the “Get Ready for Succeed” Program and the “We Can Fund”. AmCham Bulgaria is long term partner with the foundation’s various projects and initiatives in which the Chamber has donated over BGN 500,000.
“In 2018 AmCham marked eleventh year in which through its members supports the Get Ready to Succeed Program and the We Can Fund. For that period we are proudly saying that we have contributed with 115 scholarships with a total value of BGN 250,000, and the overall amount dedicated to joint social projects is app. 500,000,” said Dr. Krassimira Chemishanska, President of the AmCham Bulgaria during the gala opening.
In her opening remarks Elitsa Barakova, Executive Director of bCause Foundation underlined the effect of the donation campaign: “Last year we have supported with scholarships and professional trainings more than 110 young men and women. This year, some of the alumni are already donors themselves, others started their first job. Thanks to the donations of the AmCham Members we are able to give better perspectives to the future of many teenagers in need.”
Guest of honor of the event was the U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Eric S. Rubin. He greeted the audience for the Thanksgiving holiday, and marked the significant contribution of the Chamber and its members to the charity causes in Bulgaria. “In audience full of friends, no matter the distance from my country, I feel like home,” he said also.
During the event it was announced that AmGen Bulgaria will support five full schollarships totaling BGN 10,000. And among the companies that supported the Get Ready to Succeed Fund are Telelink, Fama Consulting, etc.
About the causes
Get Ready to Succeed Cause is established in 2006. It supports the children and youth orphans, thus providing financial stability. In such a way those young people can focus on their education and have a better start in their lives and better career perspectives.
We Can Fund is created to support young socially disadvantaged people. Its goal is to support their professional realization through various activities that teach or improve their skills.

About the event
This year AmCham Bulgaria presented a new format. The guests enjoyed program full of talented artists. The evening started with performances of Harry Eshkenazi and the Fortissimo Quartet, Rught Koleva and The Fingerstones, Militsa Glandnishka and her band, Rewind and Vyara Panteleeva, and The Iliev Foundation.
Mistress and Master of the Ceremony Angela Rodel, Executive Director of the Fulbright Foundation, and the multi-talented actor Daniel Tsochev. In the very opening of the event both performed live “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” song which astonished the audience since the beginning.
