On January 22, Tuesday, from 7 p.m., an Evening of the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) will be held at the Regional Museum of History with keynote speaker President Rosen Plevneliev (term of office 2012-2017). The topic of the event is “Careers of Tomorrow”. Based on his personal and professional experience Plevneliev will present the key factors for a successful career, highlighting the needed qualities and skills, as well as the type of modern education which lives up to these requirements.
The national tour includes Plovdiv, Varna, Bourgas, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Pleven, Vidin, and Sofia and is traditional for the university. All events proceed with keen interest on the part of prospective students, their parents and teachers against the background of the increasing importance of career choice. Such lectures are also held in other countries of the region – Albania, Serbia and Macedonia.
“In a world making huge strides in technology, including the advancement of Artificial Intelligence, but also faced with global issues concerning the environment and transformation of societies worldwide, universities should increasingly respond to the need for new leaders – with new thinking and a range of skills that are globally relevant. In 2018, AUBG welcomed over 250 students from 29 countries. Growth among new Bulgarian students reached 56% and among foreign ones – 30%. For an eighth consecutive year, AUBG has been a leader according to the Bulgarian Ministry of Education national university ranking for 2018. It takes first place in 4 out of the total of 5 categories in which it is subject to evaluation by the system. About Rosen Plevneliev
Rosen Plevneliev is a Bulgarian politician who was the 4th President of Bulgaria from January 2012 to January 2017. He was Minister of Regional Development and Public Works from July 2009 to September 2011 as part of the cabinet of Boyko Borissov. In October 2011, Plevneliev was elected as President in a runoff; he was inaugurated on 18 January 2012. Rosen Plevneliev has a strong business background as shortly after the 1990s democratic changes in Bulgaria he started a private building company. Among other projects, the company built the Sofia Business Park, the first project of this kind in Bulgaria.
