28 women were killed in 2018 by their former or current spouses or partners or by a relative. 3 children killed by their fathers. This is statistics from media reports.

Every 4th woman has been the victim of domestic violence – psychological or physical. This is statistics of international organizations.

In Bulgaria there is no official statistics on the violence against women.

“Educational” slamming, controlling where she goes and who she’s talking with, a ban on going to work because her job is “to take care of the kids.” Or the colleague who comes in with dark glasses to work to hide the bruised eye … Do you know women like them?

Annie loses her baby after her husband has locked her pregnant and covered only with a towel on the balcony in the winter for hours. This is the final of their scandal. Before that, there has been many others – screaming, slapping … After her loss Annie finally leaves her husband. She will never allow a man to be part of her life again.

Emmy is a mother of two children and she is a victim of domestic violence “because of them”.  She does not work for more than ten years, she has no money. There is nowhere to go. She finally gathers the strength to share with his mother. But her mother tells her that “every woman must stay with husband and home” and does not accept her. “Everybody quarrels,” it is normal. And he loves her, of course. If she hits her, it’s because she deserves it – she  should behave herself, so not to challenge him hits her again. And in a small town  there is no place for her to hide…

Lily and her husband are lawyers. They know each others from the university, and now they work in big companies. They are respected professionals and therefore no one should know the truth. None of their friends know what’s happening behind the walls of their home. Their daughter is a silent observer. This is their big, terrible secret. One day no one will believe Lily “fell down the stairs”.
