On 8th March 2019 InterContinental Sofia welcomed for the first time the worldly known pastry chef Pierre Hermé – one of the stars on the international culinary scene. Mr. Hermé was in the capital for the official presentation of his book “Ispahan” and for the prestigious competition Master Class, on which he juried together with two other famous names in the international cuisine – Éric Vergne and Frédéric Cassel. Five of the best pastry chefs in Bulgaria took part in the competition for a one-month training in Paris.
Mr. Hermé started his career at the age of 14, when he was apprenticed to Chef Gaston Lenôtre. He specialized in desserts and his trademark are the French macaroons, saturated with unique flavors and impressive colorful presentations. In 1998, together with Charles Znaty, he created his own brand of pastry shops, which is now one of the leaders in Paris and around the world. In 2016 Pierre Hermé won the prestigious award “World best Pastry Chef and became the fourth most influential Frenchman according to Vanity Fair Magazine.
For the presentation of his book, Mr. Hermé chose to work with the newest five-star hotel in the capital – InterContinental Sofia. He enjoyed the stunning view from one of the most wanted suites in Sofia and the impeccable service of the personnel. Part of the international hospitality chain InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), InterContinental Sofia opened in the beginning of last year and is enjoying an enviable success among its local and foreign guests.
