Postbank is the most active issuing bank in trade finance in Bulgaria for 2018

For a fifth time Postbank won high prize from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) – Most Active Issuing Bank in Trade Finance for 2018. The prize was presented at an official ceremony, which took place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Postbank reached a total volume of deals realized under the programme of over EUR 17 million in the past year. The institution, with the assistance of the EBRD’s trade financing programme, is actively supporting the foreign trade activities of Bulgarian companies by providing a full product package that reduces to a minimum the risks for them and provides them with opportunities to develop on foreign markets. Traditionally, Postbank reports excellent results in the offered factoring services, and for yet another year, it is a leader on the factoring service market in Bulgaria – with over 45% market share from the overall factoring business volume and 60% share in the export factoring. The financial institution’s factoring services increased by 37 percent year-on-year for 2018. Postbank offers services in the field of factoring in over 90 countries in Europe, Southeast Asia, North and South America.

The EBRD Managing Director Francis Malige commented that the trade financing is key in stimulating the economic development and growth and it is the strong network of partner banks that help realize it, because they provide financial means and support that help the companies identify, explore and conquer new markets. “We, at the EBRD, are very proud to work with these partner banks. Our awards today express that pride and our recognition of their efforts to achieve results,” he added.

The ceremony in Sarajevo was part of the 28th annual meeting of the EBRD. It was combined with a business forum dedicated to the digitalization and the opportunities for innovations, the development of the Western Balkan economies through the promotion of small and medium enterprises, etc. The goal of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is present in 29 countries in Europe and Asia, is to help build market economies, to assist in the implementation of structural and sectoral reforms, the development of competition, infrastructure, etc.
