AmChams in Europe: Determined to deliver value and to excel

This years’ Best Practice Conference of AmChams in Europe (ACE) was hosted in Belgrade, Serbia. It was three days full of knowledge exchange, rich discussions, and many moments of sharing and fun.The event gathered 60 representatives from 30 AmChams across Europe, and many of them reconnected with each other or new friendships begun.

About the conference

The European Conference is traditionally hosted by an AmChams in Europe member and focuses on facilitating the exchange of best practices and discussing relevant issues impacting AmChams and their members. For the host AmCham, this is an opportunity to showcase their country and expose its members to the AmCham network. This was something that the team of AmCham Serbia did their best – presenting the uniqueness of the life of Nikola Tesla and visiting his museum at the capital city, beauty of the regions of Orasac, Oplenac, and The Royal Winery there. Belgrade is rich of history so the guided tour of the Kalemegdan Fortress turned into a mini time travel experience.

The conference started with a informal session discussing the readiness of the AmChams to adapt and transform in the modern business world and to address the needs of the members. Among the topics of the “Ready4DFuture World: What Role Do We Play?” were how do we position and communicate America as a Brand, how do we cope with the dynamics of the White House Administration, as well as how America is being perceived as a global economy and political power in the countries and regions where we all live.

ACE 2019 Best Practice Conference was opened by Patrick Mikkelsen, Chairman of the AmChams in Europe.
AmChams Pitches

Important element of any conference of ACE are the pitch sessions. It is an important tool for sharing experience and knowledege, as well as to address problems that could find joint solution within the ACE network. In Belgrade there were four such presentations: Georgia, Russia, Romania, and Serbia. Each Chamber’s leader presented their organization and results in impressive way sharing their highlights and achievements.

The Serbian team made an excellent presentation of their hard work of the Chamber with an emotional and full of facts pitch before the guests.

Presented by style and line-up with grace: AmCham Serbia Team: Amalija, Ana, Tina, Marko, Milica, Anita, Branislav, and Strahinja. Missing only Vera Nikolic Dimic who received plenty of online compassion.
Focus on development

There are two main elements that shaped this year’s agenda with regard the development of the AmChams. The first one was the Benchmark survey that collects data about the membership, staff, and funding. This session was moderated with style by Ajsa Vodnik, CEO, AmCham Slovenia and head of the ACE Secretariat.

Different topics gained plenty of comments and interventions by the audience and resulted in exchange that was truly beneficial.

The second element for development was the topical sessions discussing membership development, communication, outreach, internal management, events and sponsorship. They were moderated by the ExCo members and turn out to be excellent panels for sharing among peers.

Three-days in a row Ajsa Vodnik, CEO, AmCham SLOVEnia moderated the discussions professionally and with passion.
