The Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation joins the fight against COVID-19 with a donation of personal protective equipment and rapid response tests

A donation of BGN 300,000 in the form of personal protective equipment, rapid tests and financial support in the fight against coronavirus on a national scale has been provided by the Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation with the assistance of Uni Hospital and the support of the Bulgarian Doctors Association. The Foundation declared its readiness to support the activities of the state, the health authorities and the National Operational Headquarters by providing free personal protective equipment and rapid tests to ensure the safety of frontline medical personnel.

“This crisis shows us that financial support alone is insufficient to meet the unprecedented challenge facing humanity and that the way we manage resources, teamwork, and trust between people and institutions is of crucial importance. Now is the time for all Bulgarians to be united and to follow the rules approved by the experts in the Government and the World Health Organization because by standing together will we succeed”, states Dimitar Tsotsorkov, Chairman of the Foundation and the Supervisory Board of Assarel-Medet.

Mr. Tsotsorkov stressed that he and his team remain true to the motto “To go first is to start on time” and added: “The foundation and the companies I manage want to help the people and institutions that are and will continue to be at the forefront of the pandemic in Bulgaria.”

Responding to the most pressing needs, the Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation and Uni Hospital have donated 1,000 face shields, 300 suits with silver-ion protection, 7,000 reusable masks, 1,000 liters of disinfectant, as well as 10,000 kits for rapid testing for the purpose of screening. 5,000 of these rapid tests will be donated directly to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bulgaria and the National Operational Headquarters.

The protective equipment and the remaining 5,000 tests have been donated to healthcare facilities that take in the majority of COVID-19 patients and have a higher risk of exposure to the virus due to the influx of infected patients. The non-exhaustive list of recipients includes Pirogov, Alexandrovska, St. Anna, St. George, Tsaritsa Yoanna-ISUL, Pazardzhik Hospital, Dobrich Hospital, Maichin Dom Sofia, University Hospital St. Marina in Varna and more.
