SAP Addresses COVID-19 on a Global and on Local Level by Providing Free Solutions for Companies, Institutions and Citizens

Safety and well-being continue to be the top priority as the world manages through the effects of the coronavirus. Business faces unprecedented challenges now as the impact of the global economy continues. Business is not as usual in any sense. Founded nearly 48 years ago, SAP has been serving its primary purpose of helping the world run better and improving people’s lives. The company addresses challenges COVID-19 has sparked in travel, supply chains, on the administrative and daily life level.

SAP offered help for cancellations in business travel by opening its access to SAP Concur Triplt. Triplt processes hundreds of thousands of travel itineraries for people around the globe, monitors their flights, and alerts them of any changes or delays. In response to increasing schedule changes and cancellations stemming from COVID-19, SAP helped those who had to travel, by opening the access to the application. Furthermore, new users received Triplt Pro for six months and existing users could use the premium option complimentary for the same period.

In addition to disrupted travel, SAP addressed problems and delays with weakened supply chains around the world. The company opened the access to SAP Ariba Discovery so that any buyer can post their immediate sourcing needs, and any supplier can respond to show they can deliver. SAP operates the largest business network in the world, representing more than 4 million suppliers in over 190 countries and USD 3.21 trillion in commerce on Ariba Network Therefore, by opening the access to SAP Ariba Discovery, SAP aims at connecting suppliers and buyers quickly and effectively, thereby minimizing the disruption caused by shipment delays, capacity issues and increased consumer demand in times of crisis.

As a continuation of the campaign in support of businesses and individuals, SAP also offered free use of Remote Work Pulse by Qualtrics. The instrument helps companies identify risk groups and redirect them further to useful sources of helpful information. Employees now mostly work from home, so employers face a challenging change in work dynamics. Remote Work Pulse is a unified preconfigured solution for experience management that allows managers to assess their employees’ current state of mind and their worries. Using this solution, companies can gather invaluable insight into the worker’s ecosystem and adjust their internal communication accordingly. Remote Work Pulse aids the optimal communication with teams, encourages teamwork and productivity.

SAP further utilized Qualtrics to help local administration in the fight against COVID-19 by launching COVID-19 Pre-Screen & Routing: an online, guided COVID-19 pre-screen questionnaire to identify high-risk citizens, provide recommended actions, and collect information from visitors about their current symptoms and circumstances. By using this solution, public health organizations can then route visitors to the most appropriate resources. Automatic reports, generated by the COVID-19 Pre-Screen & Routing, identify visitor demographics and gaps in current information availability.

The solution was integrated on a local level, in Bulgaria, to support administration and citizens in this crisis. The SAP Bulgaria team partnered with Sofia Municipality at first, and then with numerous other municipalities around the country to provide a unified information point for questions about COVID-19. The system has been created with the support and free of charge assistance of SAP Bulgaria, the local office of SAP SE. The platform is accessible through the COVID-19 page on Sofia Municipality website. It delivers citizens with short, accurate and timely information on the most important questions: what to do if they think they have been in contact with an infected person, if they are elderly or disabled people, what to take as an action if they have children, if they have recently come back from a trip abroad, etc. The platform’s purpose is to deliver only the most up-to-date information in one place, without the need for citizens to visit pages of different institutions. The single point of information facilitates feedback gathering on the problems of Sofia citizens, their worries, and the difficulties they experience. Also, volunteers and donors can declare their opportunities and readiness for assistance through the platform.

In addition to helping citizens, SAP Bulgaria also aided addressing disruptions in local business. The Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) in partnership with SAP Bulgaria launched a new information portal on the agency’s website to support Bulgarian business representatives by informing them about diverse public instruments for financial help, governmental measures for employee retainment, compensation of employees, and about important regulatory documents related to the emergency state in the country. Also, business representatives may find a wide variety of analyses and recommendations for their business, now facing the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19. Additionally, the portal provides the opportunity for feedback, thereby encouraging micro, small and medium enterprises to share their opinion on how the service may be improved.
