On January 11th, 2021 Petar T. Ivanov, CEO, American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria had an interview on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria – “The world is business” hosted by Ivaylo Lakov.
According to Ivanov, “The assault of the Capitol was a test of whether American democracy is what it claims to be“.
He believes that the removal of the US President Donald Trump before the end of his mandate is unlikely and the democrats may make such a request, but there will be no time to accept it.
“The main challenge for the new U.S. President Joe Biden will be how to reunite the nation“, Ivanov said.
“The problem with the political system is that it offers what is well received. This usually turns against the politicians themselves and the people who support them. Unfortunately, that is the cancer of the political system.”
Ivanov predicts that within Biden’s mandate, America will return to its original values, to its main allies.
Regarding the role of the European Union on a global scale, the expert expressed the opinion that the bloc should change the model in which it operates to compete with the United States and China, including allocating funds for the specialization of other countries in specific areas.
