AES Geo Energy, part of AES Bulgaria, has signed a framework agreement for cooperation and coordination with the Technical University of Varna. The contract was signed by Ivan Tzankov, Managing Director of AES Bulgaria, and Prof. Dr. Eng. Ventzislav Valchev, Rector of the Technical University of Varna.

The two parties will cooperate to teach technical skills to students who will be eligible to earn a degree in Renewable Energy upon completion of the program. The program curriculum will include practical training, student internships, wind farm visits for scientific and educational purposes, and experimental work for students, Ph.D. students and post-graduate students. Promotion of their professional opportunities is also envisioned.

AES Geo Energy is committed to supporting students with scholarships and tuition fees. The agreement also provides for joint participation in international, national, and regional projects and the organization of scientific conferences, seminars, presentations, and exchanges of information.

‘This is another step towards the greener energy future, for which AES, as a global technology leader, is actively working. I believe that in this way we will motivate more and more young people to head for the future of the energy sector, namely the use of RES technology’, Ivan Tzankov stated.

Starting next semester, specialists from the largest wind farm in Bulgaria St. Nikola will take part in student training. Moreover, AES Geo Energy and the Technical University of Varna will start promoting the specialty program in high schools across the country.
