AmCham Bulgaria Opens Its American Office in D.C.

On May 10th, 2022, at an exquisite reception at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C., the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria marked the opening of its office in the United States of America. The office will serve as a focal point of contact between American businesses which aim to expand their operations in Bulgaria and vice-versa – will guide Bulgarian companies that plan to probe the American market. The event was attended by Olivier Marquette, AmCham Bulgaria President, Petar T. Ivanov, CEO, AmCham Bulgaria, Omourtag Petkov, Board Member and Chair of Rule of Law Committee of the chamber. On behalf of the AmChams in Europe (ACE) the event was attended by Susan Danger, CEO of ACE and CEO of AmChamEU; Ajsa Vodnik, ACE Vice President and CEO of AmCham Slovenia, and other representatives of 30+ American Chambers from Europe. The event was part of the program of the ACE 2022 U.S. Summit – an annual trip of the European chambers to key institutions and businesses in the United States. The Bulgarian delegation was greeted by Marjorie Chorlins, Senior Vice President, European Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director, U.S.-UK Business Council too.

“The opening of AmCham’s office in Washington DC is a well-thought decision of our Board. In fact, it marks another significant milestone in our contribution to the development of the Bulgarian American business relations. Both countries are partnering on bilateral and multilateral projects and programs as part of the Transatlantic economy.

Having our “AmCham harbor” in the capital of The USA will give us and our members a competitive advantage, and it would facilitate the b2b and b2g relationships now and in the future,” pointed out Olivier Marquette, AmCham Bulgaria President.

“Last year – the second one of the pandemics – we made a bold decision: to establish a business entity in the United States which would serve our current membership, would help us expand our membership base, as well as be instrumental in fostering trade, technology transfer, and community building across the Atlantic. It will aim to connect businesses in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna with D.C., Chicago, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and more locations. I am certain it will be productive, and we all should expect more and positive news from there.” – said Petar T. Ivanov, CEO, AmCham Bulgaria.
