BNB is Ready with the National Bank Activities Draft Law after Bulgaria’s Eurozone Accession

Bulgaria is still in no-bad position in its pathway towards the Eurozone. The bulkier and the most important tasks have been implemented successfully.

During his speech, Dimitar Radev outlined several groups of tasks that Bulgaria should implement. He reminded that Bulgaria didn’t fulfill only one of the numeric criteria – the one of the inflation, that is rooted in external reasons.

Radev reported that there is some solid advancement of the engagements undertaken in the pre-accession period: non banking financial sector, anti money laundering, insolvency measures, state-owned enterprises management. “The remaining activities is a lot, and it is related many with the Parliament review and voting of the draft acts and procedures,” he pointed out.

The Positive Sides of the Eurozone: The Examples of Greece and Croatia

“There are lot’s of questions about the Eurozone accession of Croatia, that the business wanted their answers right now and comprehensively. We had some great collaboration with our Ministry of Finance and the National Bank, and the Prime Minister’s office, and when we addressed them, including with questions that they haven’t thought about it, they delivered prompt and precise answers,” said Andrea Doko Jelusic, Executive Director, AmCham Croatia before the Bulgarian National Radio.

When someone thinks about “Greece and the Euro”, everyone recalls the bail-out programs. But look at us now: in Q4/2022 we have growht of 2.8% which is the highest in the Eurozone. For one year we attracted 30 million tourists, foreign investors are all around Greece, and among them are the giant corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon, Google. All of that proves that there is a trust in Greece. Of course, we have won with great suffering. In the end of the day, we have won this battle,” said Elias Spirtounias, Executive Director, AmCham Greece
