Discussing Risk and How to Navigate Businesses in a Dynamic Global Environment

On October 13th, 2023, two dozen investors, startups, financial stakeholders gather at the “Investing in Advanced Technologies: Risks and Opportunities” seminar. It was organized by The U.S. Department of State, PwC, and CRDF Global. American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria was partnering to this valuable initiative.

The event was opened by Joshua Baker, U.S. Department of State and Ivan Mihaylov, AmCham Bulgaria, CEO. The practical sessions were presented by Vira Savva, Manager, and Matteo Bianchi, Senior Associate, Sanctions and Export Controls team, PwC Belgium. A topical intervention was made by Julian Mihov, Client Development Leader, PwC Bulgaria.

All the guests were able to get the up-to-date requirements on risk management related to foreign direct investments, due diligence during M&A, and IP protections for investors. The two lecturers Vira Savva and Matteo Bianchi led the audience into a mix of presentation slides and discussion of interactive case studies that showcase international best practices for regulatory compliance.

The main objective of the seminar was that the business representatives to improve their ability to strengthen their firm’s compliance with international sanctions frameworks and mitigate financial, reputational, and legal risks to their investment portfolios.
