Ivan Mihaylov on bTV about AmCham Bulgaria, Other Bilateral Chambers, CEIBG Urge the Transposition of the Global Minimum Tax

On December 12, 2023, AmCham Bulgaria participated in the press conference on changes in the Corporate Income Tax Act and especially the Transposition of Global Minimum Tax.

Olivier Marquette, AmCham Bulgaria President, and Ivan Mihaylov, CEO urged the implementation of the European directive with other bilateral chambers such as the German-Bulgarian Industrial and Trade Chamber, Confindustria Bulgaria, Belgium-Bulgaria-Luxembourg Club, and with the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria at the National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency.

In the follow-up to the press conference, Ivan Mihaylov gave an interview for the central news emission of bTV. There he said:

This means allowing substantial business tax relief of 10% on wages and 8% on fixed assets. As an effect, this will give an increase in corporation tax for foreign companies, but at the expense of a tool to keep our economy competitive.

Ivan Mihaylov also underlined that U.S. companies do not only operate in Bulgaria but create communities, and invest in regions and the welfare of their employees, which is a fact and a non-deniable contribution to the economy of the country.

The final decision of the government is yet to updated.
