23 Companies Received the 2023 Annual Quality Mark for Workplace Giving for 2023

On February 29, 2024, for the tenth year, the BCause Foundation, together with its partners, presented the Annual Quality Mark for Workplace Giving  – “Responsible Employees” to Bulgarian companies that promote and develop giving in the workplace.

All of them have made charity a part of the company culture and offer their employees various opportunities to get involved in charitable and volunteer actions, bazaars, sharing experience and knowledge with vulnerable groups.

The annual mark “Responsible Company – Responsible Employees” is awarded by the BCause Foundation, the Bulgarian Society for Public Relations and the Bulgarian Association for People Management (BAUH) and the Association of Sustainability Specialists.

BGN 2,384,777 were donated in 2023 only by the employees of the 23 companies nominated this year. Their 8,661 employees contributed more than 66,000 man-hours of volunteer work in 2023.

Companies have supported their employees to donate and volunteer with volunteer leave, logistics, materials, coordination and co-financing. Impressively, they are different business sectors – retail chains, banking, telecommunications, information technology, outsourcing, communications, engineering and electronics, agriculture and others, with a total of more than 51,000 employees.

The jury that evaluated the information provided by the companies was composed of Elitsa Barakova, Executive Director of the BCause Foundation, Detelina Smilkova, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Association for People Management, Marina Stefanova, Chairman of the Association of Sustainability Specialists, and Ivan Yanakiev , chairman of the Bulgarian Society for Public Relations. They praised the companies for their professionalism, dedication and good planning during the year, which allowed them to respond in time to the expectations of the public and the employees themselves.

The hosts of the ceremony Elitsa Barakova and the actor Stefan A. Shterev welcomed the guests of the event and before announcing the distribution of the Annual marks, they talked with Kristina Goryalova from MentorMate and Ivona Miteva from the Administration Department and the CSR team at “TSD Group”.

The “Responsible Company – Responsible Employees” golden mark for 2023 was awarded to 4 companies – Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Merkle, A1 Bulgaria and SAP. In 2023, A1’s payroll giving program entered its 21st year. The company aims to increase its participants every year.

A silver mark “Responsible company – responsible employees” for 2023 was awarded to as many as 15 companies.

The first silver went to HP Inc. Bulgaria. Their initiative “40 days to do good” supported 7 projects of 6 non-governmental organizations. In 2023, the company continued its free technological training for Bulgarian students and schoolchildren. Digital training initiatives for refugees, as well as other training initiatives with the participation of company volunteers, were also implemented.

The following were also awarded with a silver  Quality mark: BILLA Bulgaria, Cargill Bulgaria, Kaufland Bulgaria, Citibank Europe, Bulgaria branch, DSK Bank, Endava, “FANTASTICO GROUP”, TELUS International Bulgaria, Mentor Mate, Vivacom Bulgaria, DXC Technology, UniCredit Bulbank , Overgas and “TSD Group”.

The companies and their employees at SiteGround and Robert Bosch were awarded a bronze Quality mark.

As every year, Annual Quality marks were also awarded – incentives with the wish to become bronze, silver or gold next year.

Mondelez Bulgaria received an Annual Quality mark for the fact that 80% of the employees actively participated with donations and volunteering in the initiatives and campaigns that Mondelez had in the past 2023 year. Bosch Digital were recognized for weaving philanthropy into their internal training programmes. They invariably responded with support in emergency situations – such as the earthquakes in Turkey and the disaster in Karlovo.

Iliana Zaharieva, Director of Corporate Communications, to our main sponsor – A1 Bulgaria, presented the special awards for encouraging the people and teams of the nominated companies and for distinguishing their work.

Adelina Peeva from “Unicredit” received an award for working tirelessly to motivate the bank’s employees to donate easily, quickly and often – 20 times in 2023.

A certificate went to Gloria Hristova from DXC Technology, who is an ambassador of goodness in her company. With applause, we welcomed the award of Darina Georgieva from “Overgaz”, who is the motivator of the successful campaign of Platformata.bg “Donate for a firefly, Overgaz will double”, which raised over 36 thousand BGN for the modernization of children’s wards in the country from 300 donors on the site . The company doubled the funds raised.

The team of Telus International Bulgaria received a special award as the most dedicated team – “We always go hand in hand with BCause and this is not just a pleasure for us, but an honor. And our dedicated colleagues are our most valuable asset and together we are a tireless engine of good.” “I’m glad that we’ve been together for 21 years and are lighting the spark” – said Iliana Zaharieva from A1, who was the golden sponsor of the ceremony. The excitement of the evening’s participants grew into plans to engage more colleagues and pledges for more donors.
