Sensata Awarded Top Prize for Lean Methodology

Demonstration of top-level management support, employee engagement, and performance metrics were just some of the achievements that helped our Sensata Technologies Bulgarian team to take the ‘Lean Team’ prize at the annual Tomorrow Redefined Conference in Sofia on May 17.

“Being awarded Lean Team of the Year is a great honor and is testament to the expertise, adaptability and skills of our entire team in Bulgaria, said Tommy Ver Elst, General Manager, Sensata Bulgaria. “We are very proud of the recognition we have received for the path we have walked over the past three years.”

Tommy also served as one of the conference’s featured speakers, representing Sensata on a panel discussion, The Importance of Continuous Improvement Across Different Industries and the Role of Digitization, with leaders from top Bulgarian pharmaceutical, logistics, software and financial services companies. “At the heart of Lean methodology is the concept that every team member has an important contribution to make to how a company improves,” Tommy told the audience. “Over the last year, our team has embraced automation improvements by using our in-depth knowledge of every production line. The key was the realization that we need to innovate, as well as to continuously improve the safety and quality processes, to meet the requirements of ESG so that our company can be ready for the future. Our focus has been on the application of robotics, automation and artificial intelligence.”

The conference also provided Sensata with an opportunity to showcase some of the Lean mindset practices that are implemented across our Bulgarian sites, such as enhancing value through the adoption of a culture of continuous improvement and standardized work processes. The event was organized for a second year in a row by Lean Institute Bulgaria. In 2023 Sensata got the award for Most Comprehensive Lean Program.
