This year’s AmCham Thanksgiving Gala Dinner was a true celebration of youth, talent, and dedication, featuring three extraordinary students from the American College of Sofia whose performances captivated the audience and elevated the event to new artistic heights.

Enia-Asena Dencheva, a distinguished five-year scholarship recipient of the Philanthropy Hub New York program and an alumna of AmCham’s “Voice of the Youth” platform, delivered two stunning vocal performances that resonated deeply with the audience. Her artistry was beautifully complemented by the skillful guitar accompaniment of her classmate, Vladislav Skrivsky, whose poise and musicality added depth and harmony to the evening’s program.

Adding to the night’s brilliance was Tian Yuan, another exceptional student from the American College of Sofia, who is the Concertmaster of the renowned Pioneer Youth Philharmonic. Although the orchestra performed as a unified ensemble, the precision and elegance of its string section—an integral part of its acclaimed interpretations of Brahms’ Hungarian Dances and Staynov’s Rachenitsa—stood as a testament to the dedication and talent of its members, including Tian Yuan. His role as first violin underscored the caliber of artistry cultivated by the orchestra and reflected her exemplary training and skill as a musician.

The Pioneer Youth Philharmonic, an emblem of Bulgarian cultural heritage, has been nurturing young musicians since its founding in 1952 by Vladimir Simeonov. Known for its rigorous standards and inspiring mentorship, the orchestra has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Berlin’s Konzerthaus and Vienna’s Golden Hall of Musikverein. This year, under the baton of Lyubomir Denev Jr., the orchestra delivered a vibrant performance that culminated in a suite from Disney’s Aladdin, a piece made possible through the kind support of The Walt Disney Company.

The participation of Enia-Asena, Vladislav, and Tian Yuan was a proud moment for the American College of Sofia, underscoring the institution’s tradition of fostering not only academic excellence but also artistic achievement. Their involvement in the evening’s program embodied the core values of creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to making an impact through the arts.
