In an interview with Euronews Bulgaria, Ivan Mihaylov, CEO of AmCham Bulgaria, commented on the potential onset of a trade conflict between the United States and the European Union. He noted that such a conflict could begin as early as February if former U.S. President Donald Trump implements his proposed tariffs on European goods.

“Trump uses tariff increases as a negotiation tool, and Europe must rise to this challenge,” Mihaylov stated. He emphasized that the European Union has had sufficient time to prepare strategies and engage in negotiations since Trump’s election.

Mihaylov also highlighted Europe’s ongoing efforts to secure energy independence from Russian fuels, describing it as a critical step toward maintaining economic competitiveness. He concluded that Europe has the opportunity to remain competitive and retain its businesses, provided the right conditions are created.
