AmCham Bulgaria Sent a Letter for Partnership to the New Regular Government

On January 24, 2025, AmCham Bulgaria sent a letter to the newly elected Prime Minister of Bulgaria – Mr. Rosen Jeliazkov – expressing its will to collaborate on strategic priorities for the continued development and improvement of the investment climate and business environment in the Republic of Bulgaria

“Continuing the Chamber’s efforts, alongside our members and stakeholders, to improve the investment climate and business environment in Bulgaria, we propose a partnership and institutional dialogue with you and your colleagues on shared strategic priorities. These include the rule of law, human capital, healthcare, energy and mineral resources, digitization and innovation, as well as connectivity – transport, energy, and digital. We anticipate these priorities will align with the management program being developed by your team.” – the letter signed by Ivan Mihaylov, CEO, says.

“We are convinced that our partnership will lead to the sustainable development of Bulgaria and address the challenges facing the country. Some of these challenges include retaining existing investors and attracting new ones, enhancing the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy, ensuring labor market reliability, adhering to good governance principles, and strategically developing all sectors to create a high value-added economy.

Over the years, we have consistently emphasized the need for more effective positioning of our country with our partners in the Transatlantic economy and the European Union. Together, we could maintain and build upon business contacts with organizations, the Bulgarian diaspora in the U.S. and Canada, and individual companies on both sides of the Atlantic to continue positioning Bulgaria as an attractive place for investments and innovation.

С Among the topics we would like to discuss are the rule of law and the investment environment in Bulgaria, the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, decarbonization and diversification of Bulgaria’s energy sector while ensuring energy supply and increasing the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy, the need for decisive reform in healthcare, education as a way to enhance the intellectual capacity of Bulgarian citizens as part of the national and global economies, large-scale digitization, and improving cybersecurity in the country. Additionally, our members are interested in how Bulgaria will participate in the emerging initiatives for the recovery of Ukraine.”
