As part of AmCham Bulgaria’s ongoing efforts to deepen transatlantic ties, a high-level meeting was held in Washington, D.C. between Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) and the AmCham delegation led by CEO Ivan Mihaylov. The meeting also included Ivo Konstantinov, Head of the Commercial and Economic Office at the Embassy of Bulgaria, and Daniel Kiryakov, AmCham’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager.

Congressman Wilson, a long-standing supporter of Bulgarian-American relations, played a key role in the post-communist renewal of diplomatic ties between the two nations. As the Founder and current Co-Chair of the Bulgaria Caucus in the U.S. Congress, established in 2001, he has consistently advocated for democratic values, transatlantic cooperation, and meaningful partnerships with Bulgaria.

“In the eve of AmCham Bulgaria’s 30th Anniversary, this meeting was a centerfold of our Transatlantic outreach in 2025. We were delighted to discuss with Congressman Wilson not only the past thirty years of Bulgaria’s progress and development, but to initiate conversations on present and future opportunities that can make both allies stronger, safer, and more prosperous,” said Ivan Mihaylov.

Congressman Wilson has represented South Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District since 2001. He currently serves on the House Committees on Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Education and the Workforce. He chairs the Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, and the U.S. Helsinki Commission. Throughout his career, he has championed national security, international cooperation, and support for Eastern European democracies.

This meeting is another milestone in AmCham’s transatlantic advocacy, reaffirming the Chamber’s commitment to fostering strong U.S.–Bulgaria relations through high-level dialogue and strategic partnerships.
