Innovation at a Glance – AmCham Communications & CSR WG Visited Nasekomo

On September 10, 2025, AmCham BG opened the Fall / Winter business season with the 5th Communications and CSR Work Group Meeting, titled: “Post Summer Business Transition – Innovation at a Glance”. The title wasn’t a random one: being the first event of the Chamber after the Summer break, the meeting was hosted by Nasekomo EAD at their center for excellence and innovation at Lozen Village (Sofia capital suburb). The full name of the site is NICE (Nasekomo Insect Center of Excellence).

It was a long awaited and planned visit since Nasekomo’s team invited groups of stakeholders and partners over the past two years. So, yesterday was AmCham BG’s turn. The meeting was opened and moderated by the group leader Daniel Kiryakov who outlined the agenda and set the expectations. Then, it was the Nasekomo leadership turn: both co-founders Xavier Marcenac and Marc Bolard, CEO, shared the company’s mission and philosophy:

“Nasekomo brings a new level of efficiency and reliability to insect protein production with its breakthrough technology and AI-powered breeding solutions. The deliverables of our industry address the biggest challenges in agriculture in terms of availability, quality and sustainability, and these need to be tackled today, not tomorrow. We see nowadays how hunger is returning globally and how food security is shaken by every crisis such as the war in Ukraine, while at the same time farming systems must provide not only enough output, but also the right nutritional value to support healthier and more efficient diets across the food chain. This is where insects come in, efficient, natural and sustainable, providing high quality proteins for feed and organic fertilizers for soils, strengthening the foundations of a resilient agricultural system.”, shared Marc Bolard.

AmCham BG CEO, Ivan Mihaylov and Daniel shared the efforts of the Chamber to fulfill its main mission – working towards the continuous improvement of the investment climate and business environment in Bulgaria. Daniel also, shed light on what’s to come until the end of the year: Flagship Projects, 30th Anniversary Business Forum, Advocacy cases and portfolio of members’ and committees’ driven projects and activities.

After the presentations, a tour of the Nasekomo manufacturing plant was offered to the guests. So, combining the inspiring speeches of both Xavier and Marc’s, about how now the communicators saw themselves how biological innovation happen in Bulgaria, and everyone had the chance to peek behind the scenes and see how their co-partnering with the Nature happens.

This meeting was triple charged: first, we re-started the business season, second, it was the first outreach of the AmCham Communicators’ Community, and third – all of this couldn’t be possible to happen if we haven’t had kind and transparent hosts such as Nasekomo, and relying on mobility to Moto Pfohe, who transported part of the group.
