The General Assembly approved the Report of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and other strategic documents
The Chamber is the voice of the transatlantic economy in Bulgaria, continuing to work for the ongoing improvement of the investment climate in the country, to implement its priorities, and to protect and care for its members
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham) held its regular annual General Meeting at Novotel Sofia. The 2024 Financial Report and the 2025 Budget were unanimously approved, and an auditor for 2024 was elected. These decisions represent an important step in ensuring the Chamber’s continued financial stability and organizational transparency to its members, institutions, and the public at large.
The General Assembly was chaired by Stanislava Taneva, AmCham Bulgaria First Vice President, who congratulated the delegates on the 30th anniversary of the Chamber, which will be celebrated in 2025, as well as those members who are also celebrating anniversaries. Her opening remarks outlined the role of the Chamber in implementing both its priorities and issues essential to the sustainable development of Bulgaria’s economy, ranging from the investment climate, sectoral policies, education, energy and rare earth elements, healthcare, etc. She thanked the members for their active participation in the Chamber’s activities, as well as for the resilience and strength with which they implement their business plans and support the Chamber community against the backdrop of political and economic challenges in 2024.
“In these times of economic and political challenges, it is important to have a community like the American Chamber of Commerce. It is our voice, our commitment, our ability to unite and fight for an open economy, fair competition, and predictability. Our ongoing commitment to promoting transatlantic business relations and stimulating sustainable economic growth has never been more important,” said Stanislava Taneva.
Ivan Mihaylov, CEO of AmCham, presented the Board’s Report on its activities in 2024. He emphasized the role of the Chamber as one of the most active business voices in the country’s public sphere. The report presented the Chamber’s achievements in implementing its priorities in the areas of the rule of law, healthcare, digitization and human capital development in Bulgaria, the financial system, sustainable development, etc. Emphasis was placed on building internal communities and strategic external partnerships through projects, initiatives, and individual events.
“The American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria is in good shape and getting better. Over the past year, we have strengthened the Chamber’s voice on the most important issues – the adoption of the euro, competitiveness, investment, innovation, digitalization, and energy security – by turning dialogue into action through our committees and high-level partnerships. Together with our members, we worked to increase Bulgaria’s competitiveness based on the transatlantic partnership. Next year, we will make even greater efforts to ensure that the Chamber has a positive influence with meaning, added value for our members, and disciplined growth. We will continue to strive for real change and even stronger connections between business, institutions, and ideas,” said Ivan Mihaylov, sharing his vision for the Chamber’s development.
