As of October, Nikolay Mateev has been appointed managing Director of Bayer Bulgaria EOOD. He will assume this role in addition to his current position as Country Manager of Pharmaceuticals for the company in Bulgaria. His predecessor, Lyuba Paounova, will continue her career within Bayer as Human Resources Head for the East Europe Cluster, covering 17 countries.
“This role is a significant professional responsibility for me. I believe Bayer Bulgaria’s sustainable success depends on the strength of our team, our commitment to innovation, and our consistent pursuit of our mission ‘Health for all, hunger for none’ in service of society. Together, we can contribute to better health and sustainable agriculture, while reinforcing Bayer’s position as a trusted partner in delivering solutions with real value to the community,” said Nikolay Mateev.
Nikolay joined Bayer Bulgaria thirteen years ago as Product Manager for Oncology. He later became Head of the Hospital Business Unit until 2020, when he took over as Head of Marketing for the Pharmaceuticals division. Since 2022, he has served as Country Manager of Pharmaceuticals for Bulgaria. Nikolay holds degrees in Pharmacy from the Medical University of Sofia and in Marketing from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE).
“It has been an exceptional honor and a great responsibility to represent Bayer Bulgaria over the past four years and, together with other leaders, to ensure the company remains a great and attractive place to work for all our employees,” said Lyuba Paounova.
She joined Bayer in 2015 as Head of Human Resources for Romania, Bulgaria, and Moldova, and since 2021 has combined this role with that of Managing Director for Bayer Bulgaria EOOD. Prior to joining Bayer, she held senior HR positions at Alfa Finance Holding and Eurobank EFG Bulgaria. Lyuba holds a master’s degree in strategic management from Sofia University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
