Raya Nazaryan: AmCham Has Always Been a Platform For Ideas of Bulgaria’s Sustainable Development

Dear Mr. Mihaylov, Chief Executive Officer of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria,
Dear Members of the Board of Directors and Members of the Chamber,
Your Excellencies,
Dear Participants and Guests,

Thank you for the invitation to be here with you today and to welcome you to the opening of this prestigious business forum “Vision 2050 – Building Bulgaria’s Competitiveness as Part of the Global Future.”

It is a great pleasure for me to congratulate the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. Over the years, it has established itself as a leading business organization, bringing together more than 350 prominent American, Bulgarian, and multinational companies operating in Bulgaria. The Chamber actively works to build connections and relationships among leaders of the American, Bulgarian, and international business communities, and initiates numerous significant events in the fields of economics, politics, and social development.

Today’s event once again brings together leading experts, business leaders, and international partners of the Chamber to discuss the key challenges and opportunities for Bulgaria’s economic development in the coming decades amid global transformations. Initiatives like today’s contribute to strategic dialogue on important topics such as competitiveness and national security, strengthening transatlantic partnerships, promoting innovation and sustainable development across various sectors, and exploring opportunities for enhancing relations between the U.S. and the EU—the largest economic area in the world, generating over one-third of global GDP.

Economic competitiveness has long been one of the main political priorities of the European Union, and every modern economy strives for competitiveness, sustainable productivity growth, efficient resource use, innovation, income growth, and improved well-being for workers.

Therefore, I once again congratulate the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria on its 30th anniversary and firmly believe that this high-level international forum serves as a platform for exchanging ideas and delivering messages that will help define the direction of Bulgaria’s sustainable economic development and the advancement of international relations for the benefit of the business community and Bulgarian citizens.
