Kozloduy, Chelopech, and Sofia (the capital) are the leaders in terms of salaries in Bulgaria in 2024. The top three remain unchanged, but for the first time in the last 10 years, Chelopech has ceded first place to Kozloduy. The highest average salary in the country is close to €2,000, representing an increase of nearly 50% in the post-pandemic period. Relatively small and heavily industrial municipalities traditionally dominate the top 10. Among the large municipalities (regional centers), Sofia, Varna, and Plovdiv are at the top, while Haskovo, Vidin, and Kyustendil are at the bottom. Salaries in large municipalities, excluding the capital, range from around €800 per month at the bottom of the ranking to €1,100 at the top.
