On September 23rd, 2026, Ivan Mihaylov, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, was interviewed in the “Good morning Europe” program on Euronews Bulgaria.
Mr. Mihaylov shared, that it is extremely important for Bulgaria’s economic indicators to improve so that we can attract the much-needed foreign investors. It is very important to improve the inflation rate, because under these conditions, that simply cannot happen.
“Here we saw a very strong statement from Prime Minister Rumen Radev, which was well received by the American business community. The main areas that remain priorities are infrastructure, energy, and the country’s technological development.”
According to him, one of the major obstacles facing investors is corruption in our country.
“This is the first barrier that deters investors, so the issue is important. Corruption takes many forms, and we’re not just talking about paying money ‘under the table’ here. We’re also talking about public procurement, transparency, and deadlines, because companies’ willingness to participate in public procurement is declining – this is very clearly evident among foreign companies,” Mr. Mihaylov noted.
Mr. Mihaylov also pointed out that, in terms of technology, our country lags behind countries such as Romania and Poland.
