Two New Members Enter AmCham Board of Directors
Ivaylo Slavov and Lyubomir Minchev were elected as members of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria at the AmCham General Assembly held on Nov. 14, 2017 at the Sofia Hotel Balkan.
Ivaylo Slavov, founder and CEO of BULPROS, is corporate executive and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of international experience in the field of IT, IT-Outsourcing, Financial Services, Business Process Outsourcing and Human Resources. This year he was recognized by Deloitte and Manager Magazine as one of the top 10 managers in Bulgaria.
In his address to the audience Slavov stated:
“As a member of the Board of Directors my main objective would be to further develop the Chamber’s activities both locally and internationally. I will support efforts to attract US companies in Bulgaria, as well as Bulgarian companies to expand their operations in the US. In order to be more competitive and strong, it is important to be united”.
The second new Board member – Lubomir Minchev is founder and CEO of Telelink, which is a leading system integration company in South East Europe with considerable expertise in the development of wireless networks, system integration and security and automation systems.
His inspiring words to the membership were:
“Leading a company, operating in the fast evolving and turbulent IT industry, I believe that my skills and passion for supporting entrepreneurship and the digital transformation of the economy and society are well aligned with the AmCham vision. My continuing efforts will be focused on providing inspiration and motivation to as many business, government, NGO and academic institutions, as possible during the unavoidable transformation of society in the years of the digital age.”
Krassimira Chemishanska, AmCham President, presented the proposed Amendments of the AmCham Statutes and the Code of Business Conduct of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria which were approved by majority vote.
“The Code of Business Conduct is built around the recognition that everything we do in connection with our work at AmCham should be measured against the highest possible standards of ethical business conduct”, stated Chemishanska.
In her speech to the audience she added that with the Code Adoption AmCham stands for free and fair competition, legality, transparency, impartiality, ethics and continuous improvement.
The proposed amendments ensure stronger presence of US companies and C-level representation in the AmCham Board of Directors, continuity of the work of the governing bodies, a more transparent voting procedure, and introduction of a Code of Business Conduct.
Stanislava Taneva, AmCham Treasurer presented the Audit report for 2016 and 2018 budget forecast.
Martina Strong, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the United States in Sofia addressed the audience:
“2017 is the year of change, but what is at the heart of the partnership between our countries has not changed. We share the same goals and values and our joint work continues.”
