The Foundation Vision for Science and Technology Growth, together with the State Agency Archives, within the project Extending the Footsteps of Prof. Widen Tabakoff, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Sofia and private donations Sofia University St. Kl. Ohrisdki support has organized an exhibition dedicated to prof. Widen Tabakoff – the Bulgarian who as part of Wernher von Braun team contributed to the landing of Neil Armstrong on the Moon. The Foundation has transferred his documents from the University of Cincinnati, USA to the Archives State Agency, and have since worked on creating a scholarship fund for students in his name.

This however is made more important due to the fact that it is also the 50th anniversary (20th July 1969) of the flight to the moon made by Armstrong, Collins and Aldrin. These were brave men and we wish today to recognize and honor their achievement. It was at this time that a firm friendship began between Neil Armstrong and Widen Tabakoff that ultimately led to Armstrong joining the Professor at the University of Cincinnati where they worked together. Our intent here is to recognize one of many relationships developed over the years in which Bulgarian and American scientists have collaborated.

A primary intent of the Foundation is to create for the future support between the two nat ions. All the speakers will address in some format support for this and some will address specific activities underway to grow this important relationship.

The exhibition opening will be held on July 1, 2019, at 2 pm, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and will be exhibited until 20.07.2019.

We would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition to celebrate the anniversary of the best example of Bulgarian-USA relations. The US Ambassador, Mr. Eric Rubin, confirmed that he will open the event.
