The American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria in cooperation with the Institute for Market Economics is finalizing the 2nd edition of the report of the U.S. – Bulgaria Economic Partnership: Investments, Labor, and Trade (1990 – 2022) Report. It aims to underline the significance of the economic relations between the United States and Bulgaria. The 2018 report showed that American investments have solid importance for the national economy, and have a great impact on some regions of the country.
About the Study
The official data identifies foreign investment only by direct transition of capital. That leads to a significant underestimation of the real size of the U.S. economic presence in Bulgaria. Our methodology, introduced in 2018, tracked the ultimate beneficial owners of a selected group of foreign investors. The results of the study show that the size of the U.S. investments is statistically underestimated and has in fact increased over the past years.
These solid and proven results will be presented in an AmCham special publication, which will be our major economic document and message to various stakeholders during the celebration of 120 years of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Bulgaria in 2023.
