Ambassador Mustafa launches Women Business Academy at Bourgas

On September 26th, 2020, the U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Herro Mustafa gave the start of the American Business Academy for Women at the “Prof. Asen Zlatarov University” at Bourgas (NE Bulgaria). This program is part of the new global initiative Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) of the State Department (Bureau for Education and Culture) and it was initiated by the U.S. President’s advisor Ivanka Trump. Bulgaria is among the few European countries which were selected to take part of it.

The main driver of this program in Bulgaria is the U.S. Embassy in Sofia who selected the “Prof. Asen Zlatarov” University to implement it. AmCham Bulgaria is partnering in this endeavor.

The event was held at the Medical Faculty and was attended by all of the 30 women who will take part of the in-person training sessions. The program has four-months duration (September 2020 – January 2021). Another 30 women will take part of the online education. There were more than 130 applicants.

At the launch of the academy was attended by the Mayor of Bourgas Dimitar Nikolov, the CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria Petar T. Ivanov, as well as by the University Rector Prof. Magdalena Mitkova.
